To Work on the Canal Rainy and cold

To Work on the canal weathr Clear and pleasant

Saturday 31
Detailed and went out on picket with Co A attended Brigade Guard mounting picket station Before viscburg

Sunday, February 1
Returned from picket at 10 o clock in camp all day, very heavy Rain

Monday 2
this morning the gunboat Run the Blockade at viscburg and made the trip all wright, day cold

Tuesday 3
Bought New Boots of yater, in camp all day

Wednesday 4
This morning went out on picket before viscburg and it Rained all day and was vey cold

Thursday 5
this morning vey cold mud vey deep relieved from picket at 10 o clock

Friday 6
ths morning vey cold frost hard a nuf to Bare[?] a horse clear and sunshin moved our camp on the other side of the Rail Road

Saturday 7
Went out on picket with Co. F on the levy with in one mile of the Rivr, the day vey fine and warm Sum heavy fireing today[?] .

Sunday 8
on picket Relieved at 10 o clock, Day cloudy Wrote leter to my Wife No 18

Monday 9
Sent a leter home in camp un till evening went down in front of viscburg with a glass and examend their works and saw on dis [?]

Tuesday 10 .
Went out on picket with co H[?] and they sheld our lines un till 2 o clock when all was quiet for the night day clear Mailed a letr to my Brother

Wednesday 11
in Camp form 10 o clock Returned from picket

Thursday 12
Heavy rain this morning. clea at 12 o clock, Went out on picket with Co E on the levey below town
