Tuesday, May 12 1863
In state of Missippi marched from Grand Gulf North east 10 miles in rout for Vicksburg Road vey dusty Water scarece our men stand it vey well 

Wednesday 13
Marched 12 miles on the direct road for Reymond and campt late at knight 

Thursday 14
Marched 15 miles and past through Willow Springs and campt at 6 o clock

Friday 15
Marched II miles and arrived at Reymond and campt on the North side of the town, I was officer of the Brigade Guard

Saturday 16
Champion hill Battle fought Marched from Raymond 8 miles North west and their found the enemy and a part of our men engaged them and fught a heavy Battle and above them 3 miles Captured 15 hundred prisners 16 gun

Sunday 17
Drove the enemy across Black River and we campt 2 miles on the Vicksburg side, we crost the Rail Road at 9. We found their dead and wounded ont Road II miles

Monday 18
We drove the enemy with in 3 miles of Vicksburg and formed a line of Battle and campt for the Night Weather good II miles

Tuesday 19
this morning the greate Battle began at vicksburg at 2 o clock our division made a charge on their breastworks the 83 led Cresswell was killed. fell back at 8 marched 3 miles

Wednesday 20
this morning the 83 starts for the yazoo Rivr with the trane to make a Rode. loded the trane Returned at 11 the next morning past_____[?] and prisners 18 miles

Thursday 21
the 83 lay in line of battle all day. I was with my company all day. Our men fortfying and preparing to fight

Friday 22
I this morning I went to the hospittal sick had bin sick for 5 days Some fighting today

Saturday 23
In hospittal sick our men still fighting 83 not in it our men canad all knight to keep them a wake

Sunday 24
In hospittal sick heavy canading on the hole line, General Light Burn takes com-mand of our Brigade
