In state of Missippi marched from Grand Gulf North east 10 miles in rout
for Vicksburg Road vey dusty Water scarece our men stand it vey well

Marched 12 miles on the direct road for Reymond and campt late at

Marched 15 miles and past through Willow Springs and campt at 6 o clock
Friday 15
Marched II miles and arrived at Reymond and campt on the North side of
the town, I was officer of the Brigade Guard

Champion hill Battle fought Marched from Raymond 8 miles North west and
their found the enemy and a part of our men engaged them and fught a
heavy Battle and above them 3 miles
Captured 15 hundred prisners 16 gun

Drove the enemy across Black River and we campt 2 miles on the Vicksburg
side, we crost the Rail Road at 9.
We found their dead and wounded ont Road II miles

We drove the enemy with in 3 miles of Vicksburg and formed a line of
Battle and campt for the Night Weather good II miles

this morning the greate Battle began at vicksburg at 2 o clock our
division made a charge on their breastworks the 83 led Cresswell was
killed. fell back at 8 marched 3 miles
