Thursday, January 1, 1863
I Wrote a leter to my wife 15 letr this was a fine clear day and I am on the Asew Rivr [Yazoo River]

Friday 2
We Retreted from Viscburg up the Missippi Rivr and landed at Miligans bend [Milli- ken's Bend]

Saturday 2
We layed at Miligans bend and it rained all day vey hard

Sunday 4
left Miligans bend at 10 o clock and came up the Rivr, Capt Crofferd preached at 2 o clock

Monday 5
on our way from Viscburg to white River on the Missippi Rivr

Tuesday 6
on our way from Viscburg to Memphis

Wednesday 7
on our way from Viscburg to Memphis

Thursday 8 
Arrived at White River and landed at 3 o clock in the morning on our way from viscburg to Memphis

Friday 9
left the Missippi River and started up White Rivr at 12 o clock and landed at 7 o clock on arcansaw Rivr

Saturday 10
and mooved up at 8 o clock went of of the boat at 10 o clock and went up the Rivr at Arkansaw post the Battle commenced at 6 o clock and lasted 2 ours

Sunday 11
the Battle comenced at 11 o clock and lasted till 4 o clock the 83 went in the fite at 12 on the left and stormed the breast works

Monday 12
We laid in the fort all day and knight and talked with the Rebels and examend their works
