The information here was originally created by Nathan's Oma, who wrote the family history and trees for her children on their 21st's. Nathan's father's side is a Jewish family with strong background connections to Europe and Israel. As Nathan's mother is not a Jew, therefore Nathan is not one either. But this is an opportunity for him to learn and understand what's Jew and all its history.

To start this Stein section, a poem is being introduced to give the viewers understand how difficult it was for many Jewish people when the WW2 occurred in Germany and 6 millions of Jews being prosecuted. A daughter of a well respected Jew family, Annemarie Friedmann, wrote the poem after she realised that her parents, along with other family members, were prosecuted. The poem was written in German but Annemarie's daughter managed to translated it into English for the benefit of others.

Farewell - Abscheid

To my parents I write these final words
Alas you found your death by murderer's hands
The facts about these cruel places I have not learnt
Know nothing of the torture whether gassed or burnt
Those last days were most certainly full of terror and dread Horrors, fears, shocks, physical pains and tears shed
With great trust in God you endured it from the start
We are positive you carried God with you in your heart
No doubt your last thoughts were of your children your last contemplation
Knowing that they hadn't stayed, but emigrated miles away - your one consolation!

Did you remember some of our words in those last days?
Dearest parents related so closely yet separated so far away!
We spoke often of coming war, made many interpretations
In the context of world events we made many explanations
But we NEVER believed in a Nazi win - but their fate
It came, as it had to come, only it was then too late!
The harvest was reaped which Hitler had sown
What a monstrous leader they'd chosen and grown!
Our fathers, you served as Germans at the front in the First War - pride instilled!
But in the Second, as Jews you were gassed, hung, murdered and killed!
Shame Germany, Shame Germany barbarian folk
All those wrongs you cannot ever revoke!

Germany with your forests, lakes and splendid sand
Germany you have taken from us our homeland!
Expelled, we were escapees, stateless refugees!
Into the wide unknown we fled, across the seas
Our parents perished as a result of you Fascists!
German people I can NEVER forgive you for this!

Beloved parents if at your death no children's tears flowed
Or if no-one knelt near neat grey granite grave stones
Yet you surely live with in us, memories are locked in my heart
To ever forget your last words or goodbyes - this I just can't!

For all the love you bestowed on us, accept our thanks
Forgive the heartaches we caused or when we needed spanks
We didn't understand things better in our younger lives
Beloved parents when it was too late to be grateful, we realised!
That you never saw your grandchildren this is my biggest regret!
A girl, a boy - our greatest joy - we won't let them forget!
The thanks you have never more received from us
To our children will be ever more returned with love!
