The Parrys and Jones

Both the Parrys and the Jones originate from Anglesey, the small island at the tip of North Wales.
The Parrys came from the Llanfairmathafarneithaf (Llanfair M.E.) area and the Jones came from the Pentraeth area
both of which are on the eastern side of Anglesey.
The Parrys
I have been able to place the Parry family back to the 1850's with the birth of Eleanor Parry
on November 28th 1850,
house name Ty Mawr in Llanfairmathafarneithaf. Her father was Henry Parry
and her mother was Ann Parry (nee Davies).
Her father Henry Parry had his occupation down as a mariner.
In the 1851 census at Ty Mawr the newly born
Eleanor was at home with her mother, her mother's family
and a pauper idiot unmarried great aunt. There is no mention of
Henry Parry - on a seatrip or away from home for the census day.
In the 1861 census Eleanor Parry is still at
Ty Mawr with her mother and grandmother. Her father again is away for the census day.
From family memories Ellen was
in service in Liverpool or Manchester from the age of 13/14, which is believed to be a short time after her father's death.
Nothing is known about Ellen between her time in service and her marriage to Richard Jones of Pentraeth. The trail also
goes cold for Ann Parry though her mother died in 1862/3.
The Jones
I have only been able to trace the Jones back to 1848/9 - the approx date of Richard Jones birth in Traeth Coch,Pentraeth.
I have been unable to find out his parents names at the present date but I am continually searching.
After the marriage of Ellen Parry and Richard Jones they moved to the Pentir area where Richard was a farm
labourer on a couple of farms including Pen y Cefn.
He then became a tenant farmer of the Penrhyn Estate at Hendrewen Farm
near Bangor. Their oldest children Henry, Hugh and Richard were born in the Pentir area according to the 1881 census.
In the 1891 census David
Jones - their youngest son - was the only one recorded as being born at Hendrewen Farm.
Another son William was born
in 1883 but died in infancy.
Richard and Ellen continued to farm Hendrewen Farm for
the rest of their lives. Richard died on January 14 1927 at Hendrewen. After Richard's death, his son Hugh farmed
Hendrewen and Ellen moved out to a cottage in Minffordd. Ellen died on April 27 1938 in Whitecote on the Caernarvon Road,
Bangor
