Some Descendants of Robert Coleman of Nansemond County Virginia 1684-1930

Appendix F:  The Varners of North Hamilton County Tennessee

DESCENDANTS OF: James Varner

James Varner's first wife was Jane Austin Sutton.  They owned land "from Bakewell on the north to Chickamauga Creek on the south and from the mountains on the west to the river on the east".  Tombstones for this couple were found in the mid 1960's.  The site overlooks US Highway 27 about a mile north of Soddy, TN.  James was a member of the East Tenn militia and served in the "War of 1812" as a Sergeant.  He is believed to be the younger brother of George Varner of Knox Co.
