"James Clark, our ancestor was one of the seven boys born in
Ulster, Ireland & immigrated with their parents, (mother was
Nellie
Armstrong) and located in or near Old Hannastown, Westmoreland
County, Pa., from which county he enlisted in his brother's,
Captain John Clark's, company. James Clark was a Sergeant
in Captain John
Clark's Company, of the 8th Regiment. He was granted four
hundred
sixteen (416) acres of land in Buffalo township, Armstrong
County,
formerly Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania."

GRAVEL RUN (Presbyterian Church)
This church is in Crawford County, and was probably organized
in 1809 or 1810. The first pastor was <p. 444> Rev. John
Matthews
(22), installed in connection with Waterford, October 17,
1810. He was
released from the charge of Gravel Run, November 8, 1814.
