Hannah ELDER - birth date conflicts:
Reviewing record for marriage of 1825, where she is
said to be
"of lawful age" - could mean that she is older than
stated on
record of death and census of 1870 (says 57 in 1870,
or b. abt 1813).
The Computerized Birth calculation for death record
of 66 yrs, 7 mo and 1 day, equals: born May 6, 1810
(so that would be just under 15 yrs old in March 1825
at marriage)?
Or if 18 is "lawful age" she could be born about 1807.
John McDANIEL, husband, born abt 1800, would be over
21.

# John Humbird (1810-1888) — of Cumberland, Allegany County, Md.
Born in Ligonier Valley, Westmoreland County, Pa., April 23, 1810.
Mayor of Cumberland, Md., 1860-61, 1866-69, 1874-76.
Died in Cumberland, Allegany County, Md., June 5, 1888.
Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Jacob Humbird
...In June, 1880, with his brother John Humbird, he took the contract
for building the railroad from
Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, through Chambersburg to Shippensburg,
which was completed October, 1881. Appreciating its relations to
Maryland and Baltimore,
he came to the rescue when the means for its construction were not
forthcoming,
and advanced the money and built it accepting the bonds and stock
to the amount of $500,000.
...In 1835 he married Miss Elinor McKee, of Greensburg, Pa.,
and their union was blessed with a number of children.
During the last four or five years of his life he took great pleasure
in farming,
and his simple tastes and methodical habits made him a model husbandman.
His farm at the five mile house was well tilled by his employees,
and he took great pride in its cultivation.
He resided there nearly all the year round, excepting during the
bleakest months of winter,
when he would live at his house on Decatur Street.
