family members were sponsors of Mary ELDER LOWRY's DAR membership.
Written after 1895 to Margaret Jane Ferguson, daughter of Maria Elder who
was the daughter of Jane Filson and William Elder, of Fannett, Franklin Co PA.

"ROBERT ELDER born about 1679 in Scotland,
emigrated to America from Lough Neagh, County Antrim, Ireland,
where he had previously settled, in about 1730,
locating in Paxtang township, then Lancaster, now Dauphin county, Pa.,
on a tract of land near the first ridge of the Kittochtinny mountains,
five miles north of Harrisburg. He died July 28th, 1746, in Paxtang,
and is buried in the old church grave-yard.
He married, in 1703, ELEANOR born in 1684; died October 28, 1742.
       They had issue:
                    1st.  Robert, born 1704, married and had issue.
                     2d.  John, born January 26, 1706, married
                             first, Mary Baker, Sec. Mary Simpson.
                     3d.  Thomas, born 1708, married Mary Patterson of Paxtang
                     4th. David, born 1710, married Hannah Anderson.
                     5th. James, born 1712, settled in Fannett township (then Cumberland)
                                 now Franklin Co, Pa.
                     6th. Ann, born 1713, married John Anderson, of Octoraro"
