Petersburg--Florence M. Elder, age 66, of 128 W. Chestnut St., Petersburg,
died Sunday, May 28, 1972, at 5:15 a.m. at the University of Michigan Hospital
in Ann Arbor. She had been in the hospital for two weeks.
Services were held Wednesday, May 31, 1972, at 1:00
p.m. at the McNeil & Spencer Funeral Home in Petersburg. The
Rev. Harry Coleman of Petersburg Presbyterian Church officiated.
Burial took place in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Bearers were Ed
Perry, Carl Koppelman, Fred Kampmueller, Ed Schrader, Curt Smith and Gordon
Wittman.
She was born to Andrew and Sophia (Henning) Huston January
17, 1906, in Toledo. She married Stanley Elder July 3, 1926, in Whiteford
Center. She had been employed as a part-time postal clerk for 20
years in the Petersburg Post Office. She was a member of the Presbyterian
Ladies Aid Society. She had been a resident of the Petersburg area
for 42 years.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley; one son, Dennis
of Toledo; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Harris of Petersburg and
Mrs. Douglas (Rosemary) Luce of Blissfield; one step-brother, Irving Jeffs
of Riviera beach, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Carl (Irma) Schmid of Petersburg
and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons and one step-brother.
