Mordicai Moore

1.  Mordicai1 J Moore was born abt. 1789.He was the son of William Moore and Margot.  He married Elizabeth (Betsey) Waters, (born abt. 3 September, 1785, Maryland), on June 20, 1803 in Lincoln Co, KY. Elizabeth was the daughter of
Izaac Waters and Kitty Hawker. In 1813 Mordicai bought land from Samuel Goldsmith in Casey County, KY. He was in the census in 1810 and 1820. In 1825 Elizabeth bought land along the Green River in Casey Co, KY, from her brother Joseph Waters and witnessed by John Waters and Evan Moore. Because of this land being bought by Elizabeth and also her showing up in 1830 census Casey Co, KY, 1835 Morgan Co, IL, 1840 Casey Co, KY, and 1850 Macoupin Co, IL, along with ages of children born under 1830, we believe Mordicai died about 1825 in Casey Co, KY. We know nothing about him before his marriage in 1803 in Lincoln Co, KY. There were many spellings of Mordecai, Mordicai, Mordeca, and Mordicaih, along with Moor, besides Moore. Mordicai signed his marriage license with an X while Elizabeth signed her own name.

Know all men by these presents that we Mordecai Moore and Samuel Waters are held and firmly bound unto James Garrard Governor of Kentucky in the sum of Fifty Pounds current money for the payment of which we bind Ourselves, our heirs, &c jointly and singly, firmly.  These presents sealed with our seal added this 20th day of June, 1803.
The lean chosen of the above Obligation is such that wheras the above bound Mordecai Moore is about to intermarry with Betsy Waters and for which a license has isued.  Now in case there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force doctrine in law.
