LEDYARD - Earl Tyler Lamb, 78, of Lambtown Road, Ledyard, died early yesterday morning at his home after a lenghy illness.
He was born Jan. 27, 1909 in Ledyard, son of the late Austin S. Marion (Holdridge) Lamb. He was a lifelong resident of Ledyard.
Mr. Lamb was the husband of Doris E. (Perkins) Lamb. They were married in Preston on Oct. 12, 1935. She survives him.
Mrs. Lamb was educated in the Ledyard school system.
Before his retirement in 1971, he operated the family farm in Ledyard. It is now known as Rocky Hill Farm and continues under the operation of the Lamb family.
He was an honorary member of the Ledyard Fire Company.
He attended the Ledyard Congregational Church.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Earl T. Lamb, Jr. and Robert A. Lamb, both of Ledyard; three daughters, Marion L. Singer of Groton, Amy L. Singer of Stonington, and Helen L. Bliven of Mystic; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Stonington -- Etta Odella Holdridge Hunt Bennett, 80, of 23 Golden Spur, Arlington Acres, died Tuesday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital where she was admitted on Monday.
Mrs. Bennett was born on May 13, 1916, in Ledyard, the daughter of William Leeds and Mary Etta Gray Holdridge.
She attended the local schools in Stonington and graduated from Stonington High School in 1932.
She was married to George Willington Hunt, who died in 1979. She married Ellsworth Bennett on Dec. 2, 1982, in Old Mystic.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Bennett is survived by three sons, George William Hunt of Atlanta, Ga., Ronald Albert Hunt of Aiken, S.C. and Gary Wynfield Hunt of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters Melissa T. Hildebrand of Old Mystic and Lois St. Piere of Plainfield; six grnadchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Phronsie Wheeler, and four brotheres, Joseph, William, Francis "Sam" and Henry Holdridge.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Friday in Lambtown Cemetery, Ledyard. There are no calling hours. Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic, is in charge of arrangements.

MYSTIC -- George Wellington Hunt, 64, of 1730 West Columbia St., Orlando, Fla, formerly of Mystic died Tuesday at Oragen Memorial Hospital, Orlando, following a long illness.
Before leaving the area several years ago he was an electrician at General Dynamics - Electric Boat. In Florida he worked in the air conditioning business.
Born in Groton, Feb. 11, 1915, he was the son of the late George A. and Lillie Etta Chesabro Hunt.
Surviviors include his wife E. Odella Holdridge Hunt, three sons, George W. and Gary W., both of Orlando and Ronald A. Hunt of Aiken, S.C.; tow sisters Nadine Bennett of Old Mystic and Geraldine Williams of Groton and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday from Shea Williams Funeral Home, Mystic. Interment will be in Lambtown Cemetery, Ledyard.

OLD MYSTIC -- Williard Warren Hildegrand, 81, of 1 Lantern Hill Road, Old Mystic, died Wednesday morning at his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Hildebrand was born in Norwich, Sept. 8, 1914, son of Arthur William and Eva (Maynard) Hildebrand.
He attended Norwich schools.
He was a rigger at Electric Boat for 20 years, retiring in 1976. He had been a driver for New Haven Shoreline Bus Co.
An accomplished woodworker, he particularly enjoyed carving ships and photography.
Mr. Hildebrand married Melissa T. Holdridge on May 5, 1939 in Stonington.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald L. Hildebrand of Ashaway, RI and Robert W. Hildebrand of Rochester Hills, Mich.; a daughter Nancy D. Jankovich of Old Mystic; two brothers, Thurman Hildebrand of Ledyard and Arthur W. Stonington -- Funeral arrangements have been completed for Benjamin Franklin Jankovich, Jr., 52, of 457 North Stonington Road, who died Thursday at Hartford Hospital from complications following open heart surgery.
The funeral service will be at 2 pm Monday at Old Mystic Baptist Church, Shewville Road. Burial will be in Lambtown Cemetery, Ledyard.

He was born Oct. 28, 1939, in New London, son of Benjamin F. Jankovich, Sr., and Genevieve Watrous Jankovich.
He received his early education in local schools and was a 1958 graduate of Stonington High School. He served in the Marine Corps in the late 1950s.
He married Nancy Hildebrand on Feb. 27, 1968, at Old Mystic Baptist Church.
Before his retirement in 1989 due to poor health, Mr. Jankovich was employed by the Pipefitter's Union, Local 676, as a sprinklerfitter.
He was a member of Old Mystic Baptist Church. He was also an avid golfer, and competed in church's Friday Night League at Elmridge Gold Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three broghers, Stephen Jankovich of Fairfield, Maine, George Jankovich of Groton and Arthur Jankovich of Baxley, Ga.; and four sisters, Sandra Spencer, Genevieve Hall and Roberta Jankovich, all of Groton, and Bertha Holdridge of Lisbon.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Jankovich, and a sister, Beverly Philps.

STERLING -- William L. Holdridge, Jr., 74, of 50 Newell Hill Road died Sunday in Clinton Holpital.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Lorraine (Mathieu) Holdridge; a daughter, Wendy L. Sherman of Sterling; three sisters, Odella Bennett of Stonington, Conn., Melissa Hildebrand of Mystic, Conn., and Lois St. Pierre of Plainfield, Conn.; five grand-children; nephews and nieces. A daughter Audrey H. Moir, formerly of Fitchburg, died this year.
He was born in Old Mystic, Conn, son of William L. and Marrietta (Gray) Holdridge, Sr., and has lived in Sterling for the past 38 years.
Mr. Holdridge was a heavy equipment operator for the Department of Public Works in Sterling for 13 years prior to his retirement.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the First Church of Sterling, Post #189 American Legion and AARP.
Furneral services will be held Thursday at 10 am in the First Church of Sterling, 6 Meeting House Hill Road, Sterling. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. Calling hours at the James E. Watson Funeral Home, 149 Water St., Clinton, will be 7 to 9 pm tomorrow.

Francis Albert was born in Old Mystic, Conn., he attended schools in Stonington. During World War II, he worked for Henry Darling of Colchester, farming. After the war he came home where he married Caroline Elizabeth, daughter of Carl Lewis and Christine Elizabeth (Williams) Shafer of Gales Ferry, Conn. He did various jobs: farming, carpentry and worked for the Mystic Oral School until he retired. He and his wife are active members at the Old Mystic Baptist Church. We look up to these folds with a lot of love.

STONINGTON - F. A. "Sam" Holdridge, 65, of Wheeler Road was pronounced dead on arrival at the Pequot Treatment Center in Groton after being stricken in Mystic.
He had resided in Old Mystic most of his life. He was born in Old Mystic Jun 30, 1923, the son of William L. and Mary E. Gray Holdridge.
He was married to the former Caroline E. Shafer in Groton on Nov. 3, 1945.
She survives her husband.
Mr. Holdridge was a farmer most of his life. He had worked at Wychwood Farms in North Stonington for over 25 years. He had a lifelong interest in agriculture.
In 1985, he retired from the maintenance department of the former Mystic Oral School.
Mr. Holdridge was a member of the Old Mystic Baptist Church and served on the church's building committee. He was active for many years with the 4-H Club of North Stonington and served as vice president of the Lambtown Cemetery Association in Ledyard.
Besides his wife he is survived by four sons: Samuel L. of Old Mystic, James F. of North Stonington, Carl N. of Stonington and David G. Holdridge of Groton; one daughter, Mary E. Sepowitz of Old Mystic; two brothers, william L. of Sterling, Mass., and Henry W. Holdridge of Morano Valley, Calif.; four sisters, Phronsie H. Wheeler of Mystic, Etta O. Bennett of Stonington, Melissa Hildebrand of Old Mystic and Lois St. Pierre of Jewett City, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Old Mystic Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lambtown Cemetery, Ledyard. There are no visiting hours.

Stonington -- Caroline Elizabeth Shafer Holdridge Williams, 70, of 599 Wheeler Road, died Wednesday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Williams was born on March 13, 1927, in Groton, the daughter of Carl Louis and Christine Elizabeth Williams Shafer.
Raised in Groton, she attended the local schools. She was a long time resident of Stonington and was empolyed as a nursing assistant at local nursing homes.
She was an active member of The Old Mystic Baptist Church, where she served on the Board of Deacons, the Wightman Fellowship Committee and helped organize church suppers. She spent time in Florida and enjoyed camping, bingo, needlework and quilting.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Sepowitz of Old Mystic, four sons, Samual Leeds Holdridge of Olde Mystic, James Francis Holdridge of North Stonington, Carl Nelson Holdridge of Stonington and David George Holdridge of Pawcatuck; a stepdaughter, Gloria Gail Hanczar of Lebanon, a stepson, Thomas Denison Williams of Old Mystic; two brothers, Francis Henry Shafer of Suther, Ore. and Philip Franklin Shafer of Plainfield; two sisters Lillian Emerline Miner of Mystic and Marilyn Matilda Burchfield of Blainsville, and 16 grandchildren.

THE WHITE ROSE on the pulpit Sunday honored the memory of Henry Holdridge, Sr., who died suddenly at his son's home in Arizona on May 19th. A graveside service was held in Arizona on Monday, May 23rd. The family has requested that gifts in his memory be given to this church. Mr. Holdridge worked here many years with brother, Sam, when the Office Wing was being built, and was a good friend to all of us in the church. He had planned to be here in June, and we will miss him very much. Our prayers and deepest sympathies are with all of the family during this time of sorrow. May all God's peace and comfort be theirs.

He was born Sept. 18, 1925 in Old Mystic, son of William Leeds and Mary Holdridge.
He was a retired mechanic.
He is survived by his previous wife, Dorothy Holdridge of Stonington; one daughter Deborah Henning of Hampton, Va.; one son Henry W. Holdridge of Mesa; one brother, William W. Holdridge of Sterling, Mass.; and three sisters, Delia Bennett of Stonington, Mellissa Hildebrand of Old Mystic and Lois St. Pierre of Plainfield.
He is predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Francis "Sam" Holdridge, and a sister, Phronsie Wheeler.

Lois May Holdridge was born in Old Mystic, Conn. She graduated from Stonington High School, June 1946. First Marriage ended in divorce and the second marriage her husband died. In 1963 she met Edwin Joseph, Jr., son of Edwin Joseph and Rose Anne (Levesaue) St. Pierre, Sr. of Coventry, RI, and on September 30, 1966, they were married.
Lois worked as a watress for twenty years. She and her husband have made their home in Plainfield, Conn. Her husband has three children by a previous marriage. Together they have 5 children.
Her nieces & nephews call her Aunt "Muffy" & she makes the best pies in the state.
Lois married (1) Clarence Kenneth HOLT on 12 Dec 1947 in Plainfield, Windham Co., Connecticut. Clarence was born 22 Nov 1930.
They had the following children:
