    OLD MYSTIC - Richard E. Main, Jr., 25, of Ralph Street, Moosup, grandson of Morris and Lucy Burtch Main of Old Mystic, died Sunday in an automobile accident on Route 14, Plainfield. He was a passenger in a car that hit a tree and overturned.
    Born in Norwich, Nov. 12, 1958, he was the son of Richard E. and Philemena Green Main of Moosup.
    Beside his parents and paternal grandparents, survivors include a brother, Jonathan M. Main of Moosup, and two sisters, Linda J. Main of Moosup and Cynthia F. Cotter of Wichita, Kansas.
    A private funeral service will be conducted at the Church & Allen-Dinoto Funeral Home. Internment will be in the Main and Allen Cemetery, Ledyard.
    There are no calling hours.
    Donations may be made in his memory to the Moosup Ambulance Corps, Main Street.

He died 1980 in West Haven, New Haven Co., Connecticut and was buried in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, Washington Co., Rhode Island.

WILLIAM SURBER - 1961
    William D. Surber, 57, of North Stonington Road, Pawcatuck, died Monday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Haven, Conn. He was the husband of the late Shirley (Blanchard) Surber.
    Mr. Surber was a cab driver of Kay's Cab in Pawcatuck for many years.
    He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Central Baptist Church.
    A son of the late William F. and Violet (Maine) Surber, he was born in Westerly Feb. 10, 1928.
    Surviving are three daughters, Jean Cornell of Westerly, Susan Surber and mary Ann Surber of Pawcatuck; two sisters, Kathleen Gonsawski of Norwich and Ruth Surber of Pawcatuck, and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be conducted in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Wednesday at 10 a.m. by Rev. Lloyd P. Frederick D.D., pastor of the Central Baptist Church. Internment will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

    LEDYARD - Ann Schramm Thompson, 61, of Paint Mill Drive, died Monday at her home after a long illness.
    Born in Stonington, March 17, 1924, she was the daughter of Dewey and Gertrude Pierce Schramm.
    She was a member of the Thames River Qstomy Association, and the Ledyard Senior Citizens Club.
    She was married to Joseph E. Thompson Dec. 8, 1945.
    Besides her husband, survivors include two sons, Earl E. of Preston and David A. Thompson of Old Mystic; four daughters, Anna M. Reiners and Barbara A. Thompson, both of Ledyard, Betty J. Blocker and Mary Mingola, both of Groton; four brothers, Herman of Old Mystic, Dewey of California, Richard of Groton, and Robert Schramm of Norwich; five sisters, Margaret Collins and Ruth Travena, both of Groton, Christine Hinman of Ledyard, Helen Davis of North Stonington and Elsie Christie of Stonington; and four grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Shea-Williams Funeral Home, Mystic. Interment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery there.
    Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
    Donations may be made in her memory to the New London Ostomy Association, care of Doris Adams, 10 Ford Ave., Norwich.

    Helen (Schramm) Davis, 55, of 107 Sleepy Hollow Road, North Stonington, died Saturday evening, Oct. 22, 1994, at The Westerly Hospital. She was the wife of Frederick Davis.
    Born in Mystic, Aug. 25, 1939, a daughter of the late Dewey and Gertrude (Pierce) Schramm, she attended local schools.
    Besides her husband, Mrs. Davis is survived by four sons, Mark Davis of Washington, Erik Davis of Pawcatuck, William Davis of North Stonington and clayton Davis; three daughters Cheryl Wright of Westerly and Kathleen and Barbara Tillinghast, both of Pawcatuck; four brothers, Herman Schramm of Old Mystic, Richard Schramm of Ledyard, Robert Schramm of Groton and Dewey Schramm; four sisters, Margaret Collins and Ruth Travina, both of Groton, Elsie Christie of Old Mystic and Christine Hinman of Ledyard; and four grandchildren.
    Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, North Stonington. There are no calling hours, the Mystic Funeral Home, Inc., Route 1, Mystic, is in charge of arrangements.

    MYSTIC - Funeral arrangements have been completed for Mary Arlene Avery Waterhouse, 45, of 5 Elm Place, who died Monday at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, where she had been admitted Friday.
    Born in New London, Jan. 1, 1940, she was the daughter of Elmer Russell and Lucy Alma Pierce Avery.
    Survivors include her husband, Frederick R. Waterhouse; five sons, John L., William P., Richard S., David M. and Frederick R. Waterhouse Jr., and two daughters, Betty A. Waterhouse and Paula M. Waterhouse, all of Mystic; two brothers, Elmer R. and Paul T. Avery, both of Ledyard and four sisters, Alice Champlin of Gales Ferry, Rose Donnelly of Greensboro, N.C., Joan Mitchell of Stonington and Betty Crandall of Hillsboro, Wisconsin.
    The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ledyard Congregational Church. Interment will be in Peckham-Brown Cemetery, Ledyard.
    Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday Shea-Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Donations may be made in her memory to the Mystic Community Center, Masons Island Road, Mystic.

NORMA IRENE ALLEN
Norma Irene Allen, 69, of 983-R Long Cove Road, Gales Ferry, mother of Joyce Allen of Pawcatuck, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.
    Born Dec. 18, 1929, in Ledyard, she was a daughter of Rachel (Pierce) Brousseau of Ledyard and the late Adella Brousseau.
    She married Paul C. Allen in Mystic on Oct. 8, 1953. He died Jan. 25, 1995.
    Mrs. Allen was a sales associate at the former Vality Store in Gales Ferry and after the store closed, went to work at Marshall's in New London.
    She was a member of the Women's Bowling League at the Holiday Bowl in Groton.
    In addition to the daughter in Pawcatuck and her mother, she is survived by two sons, Paul D. Allen of Groton and Mark J. Allen of Gales Ferry; two more daughters, Cynthia Kneelandd and Donna Collins, both of Gales Ferry; three brothers, Harry Bousseau of Gales Ferry, Wallace Brousseau of Ledyard, and Thomas Brousseau of Jewett City; a sister, Emma Abrahamson of Preston; ten grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
    A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. There ae no calling hours. Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton, is in charge of arrangements.

Norma married Paul C. ALLEN on 8 Oct 1953 in Mystic, New London Co., Connecticut. Paul died 25 Jan 1995 in New London, New London Co., Connecticut and was buried in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, New London Co., Connecticut.
