Hosea was a breeder of Percheron Draft Horses. They lived at Cardington, Ohio.

Grandad lived with his daughter Temperance in Phoenix until she died in 1968. He moved to Alburquerque, New Mexico and lived with his grandson Richard Porter. In 1974, prior to his death, Perry lived in a nursing home in Alburquerque, NM.
Grampa was a jack-of-all-trades. He was a farmer, trapper, miner, horse trainer, and other things. In his seventies he was still plowing his fields on his Missouri farm. He outlived his three wives and his only child.
After grandma Ethel died he moved to Lanagan, Missouri and lived in a cabin close to Glenn and Temperance. Later he married Elizabeth Bennett, a widow with a daughter, Josephine Bennett and a granddaughter Emma Jane Wallace. Emma Jane's mother had died and her grandmother was raising her. After the death of Elizabeth, grampa married her sister Minnie who was a widow.
My grandma, Ethel Marin (Hewitt) Main was 46 when she died. When grandpa met her she was a cook in a hotel. Grandpa said he saw her from across the street and said he knew then he would marry her.

Here is a brief history of the Lewis Main family written by Josie Main Grubaugh. Lewis was Stafford County Register of Deeds for several years. He later owned and operated a farm one mile north of Stafford until 1915 when the family moved to Dodge City, where he resided until his death early in 1946. Mrs. Main died a few years later.
