    Born in Oppanheim, Montgomery Co. (now Fulton Co.) NY, 8 Dec 1803 (Bonnewitz & Allen), son of Randall Hewitt and Experience Hewitt. He died in Shawnee Township, Wyandotte Co., Kansas, 27 Dec 1879 (Bonnewitz & Allen). Richard married HANNAH PARKER, 24 Sep 1827, at Pultney, Steuben Co., NY (newspaper). Hannah was born in NY about 1810. She was still living in Shawnee Twp., Wyandotte Co., Kansas in 1880, at 70 years of age.
    Richard was a physician who lived in Eagle, Allegany Co., NY for a few years after he married Hannah. By 1833, they had moved to Port Washington, Tuscarawas Co., Ohio where they resided for about 12 years. President James Poke appointed Dr. Hewitt in 1845 an agent and physician to the Wyandotte Indian Tribe, a position Richard held for 4 years. In 1849, he set up practice and moved his family to Raytown, Jackson Co., Missouri, where he was a respected physician for many years. Richard and Hannah were members of the West Fork Baptist Church in Raytown.
    During the Civil War, Richard served as an army doctor and surgeon. He resettled in Shawnee Township, Wyandotte Co., Kansas at the end of the war and became active in politics. In 1867, Richard, an advocate of pro-slavery, was elected to the Kansas legislature from Wyandotte Co. He and Hannah spent their remaining years in Shawnee Twp. Some of their children stayed in Raytown, MO, some went to California and some settled in other locations.

    Silas married BETSEY R. MATTHEWS, 23 Jan 1833, at Gorham, Ontario Co., NY (newspaper). Betsey was born in NY, 8 Jan 1803 (tombstone), daughter of Henry Matthews and Rosannah ____. She died in Seneca Falls, NY, 6 May 1882, age 80 years (tombstone). Both she and Silas were buried in the Restvale Cemetery, Seneca Falls.
    Silas was a carpenter and farmer. He and Betsey resided in Gorham, NY for a short while after their marriage before settling in Seneca Falls. They remained there the rest of their lives. In 1862, the resided at 94 Bridge Street in Seneca Falls. Silas was active as a member of the volunteer fire department by 1837.
    Silas died intestate. His son, Hiram H. Hewitt, was appointed to administrate Silas' estate on 20 Apr 1881 (Seneca Co. Probate Records, Book D, p. 153). The heirs were the widow Betsey, and the children, Hiram, Susan and Cynthia, all of Seneca Falls, NY, and son Randall H. Hewitt of Los Angeles, California. Son Hiram inherited the family farm.

    Born in Oppenheim, Montgomery Co. (now Fulton Co.,), NY, about 1807, son of Randall Hewitt and Experience Hewitt. He was still living in 1860 in Caneadea, Allegany Co., NY. Nelson married SARAH ____ who was born in Mass. About 1814, and still living in 1860, Caneadea, NY.
    Nelson was a laborer and speculator in real estate. He and Sarah resided for a short time after their marriage in Mass. before settling in Allegany Co., NY. In 1838, Nelson purchased his first piece of property in the town of Rushford where the couple lived. They were in Rushford until about 1855 when they moved to the village of Caneadea in Allegany Co., NY. Nothing further is known of this family, accept the list of their children from the census records.

    Born in Oppenheim, Montgomery Co. (now Fulton Co.,), NY, 1809, son of Randall Hewitt and Experience Hewitt. He died in Olympia, Thurston Co., Washington, 26 Oct 1891, age 82 years (obit). Christopher married 1st, SALLY ____. They were divorced 22 Feb 1848, at Chancery Court in Geneva, Kate Co., Illinois (Western Christian newspaper). Christopher married 2nd, BETSEY WESSON on 29 Nov 1849, Kane Co., IL. (Marriage Record). Betsey was born in Quebec, Ontario, Canada about 1825. She died in Olympia, Washington between 1889 and 1891. Betsey's parents came from Vermont.
    Christopher was a lawyer by profession. He practiced law in Dundee, IL until 1852. Leaving his family in Dundee, he traveled across the country to Milwaukee, Oregon in the Northwest Territory. After a brief stay there, he went to Seattle, Washington where he took a temporary job as a carpenter. He joined the volunteer militia and was a captain during the Indian War of 1855-1856, and led the command which buried the massacred settlers on the White River in Washington. Christopher began his law practice as more settlers arrived in the area.
    A warm and personal friend of Abe Lincoln while both were young lawyers in Illinois, Christopher was appointed by President Lincoln as Chief Justice of Washington Territory in 1861, a job he held for 8 years. He established a home in the growing town of Olympia and then returned to Dundee, Ill, in 1862 to bring Betsey and his family to the frontier by covered wagon. When his second term as Chief Justice was over, Christopher retired from public office and presumed his law practice in 1869. He was a respected and successful lawyer in the rapidly settled Northwest. In later life, he took up farming in Olympia, but still retained his active interest in civic affairs. Judge Hewitt was considered the father of the Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows in the State of Washington. He was an involved member of that organization until he died.

1853. Erial HEWITT (Philander HEWITT , Ephraim HEWITT , Thomas HEWITT , Thomas HEWITT , Hannah PALMER , Walter ) was born about 1790 in Saratoga Co., New York. He died 1 Aug 1834 in Edinburg, Saratoga Co., New York and was buried in Abbot Cemetery, Edinburg, Saratoga Co., New York.

    Born in Saratoga Co., NY about 1790, son of Philander Hewitt and Sybbell ____. He died in Edinburg, Saratoga Co., NY, 1 Aug 1834, age 44 years (tombstone). Erial married SARAH OLMSTED. Sarah *Sally" was born in Ridgefield, Fairfield Co., Conn., 7 Feb 1783 (VR), daughter of Joseph Olmsted and Susannah Oviatt. She died in Edinburg, NY, 20 Mar 1865, age 82 years (tombstone). Both were buried in the Abbott Cemetery in Edinburg.
    Erial and Sarah resided in Edinburg, NY. He was a farmer, she stayed on his father's family farm in the Beecher's Hollow area of the Town of Edinburg, in 1820. Erial was appointed constable of the town.
    There were no probate records found for Erial or Sarah. After her husband's early death, the widow Sarah remained in Edinburg the rest of her life. She did not remarry.

    Born about 1797, Edinburg, NY, son of Philander Hewitt and Sybbell. His date and place of death is unknown. Philander S.T. married 1st, Almira S. Clark, 6 Jul 1837, in Barre, Worcester Co., Mass. (VR). Almira was b. 11 Nov 1806, Hardwick, Mass. (Bible Rec.), daughter of Samuel Clark and Mehitable Ingersoll. She died 28 Apr 1839 (Bible Rec.)(Info from NEH&GR, Vol. 89, pp. 290-1 & Vital Records of Barre, Mass.) Philander m. 2nd, Hannah R. ____, who was born in RI about 1819. They resided in Cranston, Providence Co., RI in 1850 and 1860. He was a physician. On 17 Jul 1826. Philander S.T. Hewitt sold land in Malta, Saratoga Co., NY which he had inherited from John Baldwin of Malta in 1824 (Saratoga Land Records, Book N, p. 270..) Should investigate Saratoga Co., NY will for John Baldwin, he may be the father of Philander's mother Sybbell.
    Nothing further known on this family.

Philander married (1) Almira S. CLARK, daughter of Samuel CLARK and Mehitable INGERSOLL, on 6 Jul 1837 in Barre, Worchester Co., Massachusetts. Almira was born 11 Nov 1806 in Hardwick, Massachusetts. She died 28 Apr 1839 in Barre, Worchester Co., Massachusetts.

Nancy married Paris HEWITT, son of Charles HEWITT and Hannah STANTON, on 12 Feb 1797 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut. Paris was born 29 Apr 1770 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut. He died 13 Jul 1857 in Waterford, New London Co., Connecticut.

    Born in Stonington, Conn, 29 Apr 1770 (VR & Bible), son of Charles Hewitt and Hannah Stanton; died in Waterford, Conn., 13 Jul 1857, age 87 years (tombstone). Perez married NANCY WILLIAMS, 12 Feb 1797, at North Stonington, Conn. (VR). Nancy was born in New London, Conn., 13 Sept 1779 (VR), daughter of George Williams and Nancy Hewitt; she died in Waterford, 31 Mar 1849, age 69 years (tombstone). Both were buried in Waterford, Conn.
    Perez and Nancy resided in North Stonington and later in Waterford, Conn. He was a farmer. In 1814, Perez was elected Representative from North Stonington.
    Nancy had inherited money of her own from her parents. Her will, dated 25 Nov 1843, was probated 12 Nov 1849 (New London Probate Records, docket #2600). An inventory gave a value of $2124 to her estate. The will provided for her husband Perez and for the care of the retarded daughter Nancy. Money was left to daughter, Mary Comstock and to sons, Henry and George Hewitt.
Part of the debt owed by daughter Eunice and her husband, Austin Hewitt, was forgiven. Four of Nancy's grandchildren were to be given Bibles. Sons Henry and George were named executors of the estate.
