William Barstow, age 23, and George Barstow, aged 21, brothers Micheal and John, came to America on the ship "Truelove", which sailed from England, Sept. 20, 1635, John Gibbs, master. Their names were written "Beeresto" on the ship's list (Reg. 14:323). The ages established 1612 as the year of William's birth, and 1614 as the year of George's birth. Two sisters of this family also came to America. One sister, Elizabeth, married William Randall in Scituate, MA, in 1640, and the other sister, Susan, married William Perry of Marshfield.
William Barstow settled in Dedham in 1636, and about 1644 removed to Scituate. He was a shipwright, and started his shipbuilding business in Scituate. The early generations of his descendats settled around Scituate and Hanover, MA, where most of them were shipwrights or iron workers. Thus, they engaged in building ships, or in making iron for ships. Some of them became mariners and took to the sea. In fact, many became shipmasters and sailed their ships to all parts of the world.

1580. William RANDALL was born 1609 in England. He died 31 Oct 1693 in Scituate, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts. William married Elizabeth BARSTOW on 1640 in Scituate, , MA.

RANDALL AND ALLIED FAMILIES, by Frank Alfred Randall, pages 3, 4, 5.
Came from the port of London in the ship "Expectacon" the 24th of April, 1635, to the Island of Providence (R.I.) He was twenty-six years of age and took the oath of Supremacy and Allegiance as then required of every person leaving England." He removed to Marshfield, Mass., 1637, where he tarried three years then removed to Scituate, which adjoins Marshfield to the north, the North River separating them. At Scituate he occupied a respectable position; a man of strong opinions and always ready to maintain his rights; hence he developed a "litigious" reputation, spending some time in court as a defendant. Many of the plaintiffs were related to him by marriage, or to some member of his family. In some of the causes that he lost, William Randall paid the damages in "shooes", notably in the case of Joanna Kemton (PR, 1657, pp. 82, 83) from which circumstance we are led to believe William followed the occupation of "cordwainer" or shoemaker. This openion is strengthened by reference in Plymouth Colony Probate Court records to payments made to William Randall, Sr., "for shooes" in the settlement of the "Estate of John James" in 1679/80 (MD, Vol. 19, p. 99). At various times William was Constable, Surveyor-of-Highways, a freeman and on lists of those "able to bear arms". See "OLD SCITUATE AND ITS PIONEER FAMILIES" for details.
