[According to James tombstone died in Iowa in 1852 at 104 years old, which makes him born about 1748. He married Polly about 1791 at age 43? It is not impossible. They had John, born 27 March 1794, James would have been 46 years old. A bit old for starting a family, but not impossible. Maybe there was a wife and children before Polly. According to Woodford Marr's 1880 Census his father was born in Pennsylvania.]

INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY GRIFFITH MARR, M.D., MARR ROAD, COLUMBUS, INDIANA
James Marr, came to Bartholomew Co., in 1819 or 1820. He settled near New Hope Church. In about 1840, James Marr, Sr., the orphan children of James Marr, Jr., Lewis's brothers Thomas and Woodford Marr and their sister Polly Ann (married to Tunis Hulick) migrated to the newly opened fertile land of Iowa, where some of his descendants live today. Our Grandfather James', grandfather at age 72, moved to Iowa, leaving a son, Lewis Marr, in Bartholomew Co., Indiana. Lewis lived on McClure Road where our father's (Henry) cousin Minerva Clark Boyd lived.
