    That matches what is known of the family. On the same page are Henry, Amos and Roger Jones, all brothers of Daniel's wife Eunice.

    He purchased 71 acres of land in Scipio in 1805 and sold the same in 1815. Wife referred to as Mehitabel, but then signed Hester. This may not be the same Daniel Andrus, although the dates fit.

    He is probably the 70-80 year old male in the household of William Wallis fits as one of the sons of Robert Wallis (Wallace) who died in Cayuga County, NY in 1829. William was a brother of Daniel's daughter-in-law.

    Rev. War Pension Application made 30 Nov 1839 at Allegany Co., NY. He made the following statements:
    1. I was born at Farmington in the Satate of Conn. on the 10th day of September 1750.
    2. I have a record of my age in my Bible now in my posession.
    3. When called into the service I was living at Stephentown which was then in Albany (now Rensselaer) County, and resided there with the (- - - - ) of the time I was in the service until after the close of the war: and then cannot remember the year but soon after the slose of the war removed to the town of Berne in the County of Albany and resided there until the year 1803 when I removed to the town of Scipio in the County of Cayuga and State of New York, and resided there until 1819, when I came to reside with my son Henry Andrus, in the town of Pike in the County of Allegany & State of New York and have since to the date hereof resided with him.
    In the Spring of 1828 my son removed to Grove, Allegany Co., NY and lived there until the Spring of 1834 - during which time I lived with him. He then removed to Mount Morris in the County of Livingston, NY and resided there (- - -) until the Spring of 1837, when my son & his family removed to Nunda, Allegany Co., NY where he has since resided to the dat hereof - during which time I have resided and still reside with him.
    4. I was always a volunteer when I went into the service.
    5. I can remember the names of Captain Dennison - Captain Gilbert - Lieutenant Sahw and General Gales, and cannot now remember any others, and can give no other details of the circumstances of my sevice than is in my declaration above set forth.
    6. I received a discharge from the service immediately after the Capture of Burgoyne, but cannot remember by whom it was signed. It is since lost or distroyed. I cannot tell here now where.

    Death date from LDS microfilm 1437473 of a card file of inhabitants of Nunda, Allegany County, NY 1775-1983. Card information apparently from local newspapers.

CENTENNIAL HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF NUNDA, Edited by H. Wells Hand, Published by Rochester Herold Press, 1908. page 482.
    He is listed as a Revolutionary soldier who came to Nunda as a Pioneer. This veteran cames from Albany Co., to the town of Grove while it was still a part of Nunda, and afterwards came to live with his son Henry on the Seaver farm. All that is known of his military career is that he was a "Land Bounty Rights" soldier, which indicated a long period of service, and his own statement that he was present at the surrender of Burgoyne of Saratoga. Daniel Andrus was a member of the Baptist Church of this place and died at the age of 90 on the Peter Townsend farm in 1843 (sic) and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery. His grave is without marker and even its location is unknown.

    The "Rome Citizen" newspaper of 22 Sep 1840 noted the death of Daniel Andrus, 89, a Rev. War soldier, 9 Aug 1840, in Allegany Co., NY. The State Library has copies of the newspaper fot the period 7 Jul 1840 to 31 Dec 1950.
