WESTERLY RECORDS

Deborah married Jared MAIN, son of Peter MAIN and Patience ECCLESTON, on 10 Sep 1801 in Westerly, Washington Co., Rhode Island. Jared was born 22 Jan 1778 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut. He died 10 Apr 1857 in No. Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut.

THE DESCENDANTS OF EZEKIEL MAINE OF STONINGTON, CONN, compiled by Algernon Aikin Aspinwall, Washington, DC, 1905, DAR Library. page 21 & 46.
Jared-5, son of Peter-4, and Patience (Egglestone) Maine, was born at North Stonington, Ct., January 22, 1778, & died there April 10, 1857.
The records at Nor. Stonington show his marriage, September 10, 1801, to Abigail Egglestone, but his pension papers show that he married September 9, 1802, Deborah Egglestone, and his grandson Jared F.Maine, son of Jared, says his grandmother was Deborah, as as Jared was born March 18, 1802, the records at No. Stonington are evidently in error as to the name of his wife. Deborah was born August 23, 1784, and died at the home of her son, William H. Main in Boscobel, Wis., May 21, 1880.

Stephen Slocum is my mystery man. I'm placing him as the son of Samuel and Hannah (Tew's) oldest son. He was not mentioned in Samuel's (number 6) will. Wash he perhaps a son of Sophia Astor who took the last name of Slocum? Was he a son of another member of the large Rhode Island family? I hve to put him somewhere, so here he is!

The 1920 census shows that Richard, William and Stephen lived in North Stonington. Azariah lived in Hopkinton.
