He represented the Worcester district in congress from 1863 to 1769.
He was auther of The Pre-Historic Nations and Ancient America, issued by Harper & Brothers. In connection with the Rev. William Clift, he compiled the Denison Genealogy, issued in 1881. He furnished much material to Homer D. L. Sweet for The Averys of Groton.

    Colonel Isaac Wheeler Geer, was b., at No. Groton, Conn., June 1, 1801; d. at Poquetanuck, Conn., Jan. 5, 1855. He. M. (1), Jan. 9, 1825, Asenath Williams, dau. of Seth and Abigail (Williams) Williams; she d. May 8, 1827; he m. (2) May 8, 1828, Experience Avery, b. July 1, 1807; d. Feb. 1, 1878; dau. of Amos and Dorothy (Crary) Avery. They resided in Poquetanuck (Ledyard) in the house built by his father, David Geer. Colonel Geer in early life served in the militia and rose in rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He had more ambition to succeed in personal business affairs than in public life, but was honored by several town and society offices, and was a much resqected and useful citizen in his neighborhood and town. He was passionately fond of music, and was one of the old-fashioned singing-masters, teaching the art of singing at Meeting-House Hill, Ledyard, Preston Plains, and Poquetanuck. He was for twenty-five years chorister in St. James Church, in Poquetanuck.
