    Job-2 Badcock, third son of James, Sr., and Sarah Badcock, born Portsmouth, RI, 1646 (?); died Westerly, 1718; married at Westerly, Jane Crandall, dau of Rev. John Crandall, a SDB minister. She d. Westerly 1715 (?).
    Job Babcock settled in Westerly, RI. He owned a blacksmith shop and a grist mill on the Pawcatuck River. He was made a freemen, May 18, 1669. He took the oath of allegiance May 17, 1671, and again Sept. 17, 1678. He was elected Constable of Westerly Oct. 1680, and Feb. 15, 1693. His wife, Jane, had a deed of one hundred acres of land made to her by Samuel Lewis, and Job Babcock, husband of said Jane, declared that he had given his wife full power to purchase the land. May 24, 1703, he bought land of the Sachem Ninecraft for 6 pounds. He deed to his son Job, for love, etc., one hundred ten acres Oct. 31, 1706.
    In 1678 Job ande his wife were members of the Seventh Day Baptist Church of Newport, and Westerly, RI. Job Badcock, Indian interpreter, 1680. (Newport Hist. Register, Vol. vii, p. 39)
    Job Babcock with his brother John received verbally the will of their father, James Badcock, June 12, 1679. By the will, Job received all his father's "smith tools of what sort of kind he died possessed."
    Job Babcock made his will Mar. 26, 1715; died 1718; will proved Apr. 7, 1718, son John executor. He gave to his sons Job and Benjamin and to daughters Jane, Sarah, Mary, Hannah a feather bed, pewter, and rest of household stuff; to son John my now dwelling house grist mill, etc., and all that is due after payment of debts and legacies."

 Boston Evening Transcript: Married 25 Feb, 1662, Lynn, Mass.; died before the end of 1689.
 History of Stonington indicates he was born in Lynn area of Essex County and came to Stonington soon after marriage. He bought land near the residence of Thomas Wheeler, his father-in-law. Lived there the rest of his life, and all his children were born there.

  Harold J. Witter: Josiah Witter, born in 1638 in Swampscott, Mass., or in England; died Stonington, Conn., probably in 1685. Married Elizabeth Wheeler 25 Feb. 1662, at Lynn. Josiah, his mother, wife and child moved from Lynn to Stonington between 1662 and 1666. Listed in the 2 Feb. 1666 census of Stonington. He purchased 80 acres in what is now North Stonington and near the residence of his father-in-law, Thomas Wheeler. On 12 April 1670 he bought 100 acres from Thomas Park (Parke) of New London, land Park(e) had been granted by the town of Stonington. He also owned large tracts of land on which the town of Hopkinton, R.I., was founded. [This may be land that came to him through his second wife, Sarah Crandall, whose father was among the original purchasers of land comprising Westerly, from which Hopkinton was formed.]

    Peter of Westerly and Ashaway, RI son of Elder John was b. abt 1655 in Westerly and died 1734. He married Mary Babcock, dau. of James Jr. and Jane (Brown) Babcock. The records of this family are not clear. The date taken from Arnold's Vit. Records of RI contain a mistake. but just what it is and where it is seems impossible to determine at this date.
    Peter took the oath of allegiance in Westerly 17 May 1679: was a Freeman in 1681; deputy from 1699-1704; Justice of Peace and Lieut. of Militis and was an important man of his time
