HARRIET E. AVERY
Funeral services will be hild Thursday at 1 p.m. in Riverview Abbey for Mrs. harriet E. Avery, who died Saturday following a lengthy illness, Mrs Avery, born on February 4, 1868, was the daughter of Samuel G. and Emma A. Byrne, descendents of early American settlers in Windham, Conn. She was a graduate of the Long Island college hospital school of nursing in New York, and practiced her profession there until her marriage to Dr. Amos Avery.
    With her husband and family moved to Oklahoma in the days of its early statehood, and was active in war work during World War I. The family moved in 1920 to Portland, where Dr. Avery was in active practice until his death in 1933.
    Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William F. Patterson of Portland, Mrs. Paul F. Middlebrook of San Francisco, and Mrs. Harold E. Shaw of Vancouver, Wash., and five grandsons, Richard and Robert Shaw, and Don, Allan and Roger Middlebrook.
