    Benjamin F. Stanton (No. 44) married Maria Davis (No. 24), Davis family, Sept. 1808. He commenced life in Stonington. In the spring of 1819 he removed to Fishers Island, New York, where he carried on an extensive farming business until 1823, when he returned to Stonington and occupied a farm which he had previously purchased, where he resided until his death, Dec. 13, 1836. Besides farming he was largely engaged in other pursuits, by which he accumulated a competency. He was highly esteemed as a man and neighbor.

    NOTE -- John D., Daniel D., Benjamin F., 2d., Paul B. and Mason M., children of Benjamin F., and Maria (Davis) Stanton of Stonington after the death of their father associated theirselves in a business partnership under the firm name of the Stanton Brothers, and as such became the proprietors of five large productive frms, which they jointly cultivated successfully through life, establishing a reputation for honorable dealings in all of their business intercourse with their fellow citizens, characterized with the strictest integrity and economical industry.
    The sister, Miss Maria, was so constituted as to be a controlling force in society. She was from early life a person of honest purpose and strong convictions, a Christian by profession, and in fact, from the commencement of the Sunday school at the Road Church, she was a member, and continued so till her death. She was also an earnest and enthusiastic teacher for many years, and unfailing in her desire to serve in any capacity. The library, the church building and grounds about the church all beat witness to her love and zeal. She was deeply interested in missionary and temperance work, not only at home, but in the world at large. Her life was full of good works, the memory of which are an inspiration to go and do likewise.

    Periz Hewitt married NANCY WILLIAMS, 12 Feb 1797, at North Stonington, Conn. (VR). Nancy was born in New London, Conn., 13 Sept 1779 (VR), daughter of George Williams and Nancy Hewitt; she died in Waterford, 31 Mar 1849, age 69 years (tombstone). Both were buried in Waterford, Conn.
    Nancy had inherited money of her own from her parents. Her will, dated 25 Nov 1843, was probated 12 Nov 1849 (New London Probate Records, docket #2600). An inventory gave a value of $2124 to her estate. The will provided for her husband Perez and for the care of the retarded daughter Nancy. Money was left to daughter, Mary Comstock and to sons, Henry and George Hewitt.
    Part of the debt owed by daughter Eunice and her husband, Austin Hewitt, was forgiven. Four of Nancy's grandchildren were to be given Bibles. Sons Henry and George were named executors of the estate.
    After Nancy's death, Benjamin Jerome was named conservator for the retarded daughter Nancy, on 22 Dec 1849 (Probate Records). No will or probate records were found for Perez Hewitt.

She died in New London, Conn, 9 Mar 1869, age 88 years (tombstone). Both Palmer and Eunice were buried in a New London cemetery.
    Palmer was a carpenter by trade and he also farmed. He and Eunice resided in Stonington and Groton, but they spent most of their lives in Waterford and New London, Conn. They were members of the Baptist Church of New London. Palmer died intestate. An inventory was taken 20 May 1850, and the estate was probated 23 Dec 1850 (New London Probate Records, docket #2602). The widow Eunice was appointed executrix of the estate.
    After Palmer's death, Eunice lived in New London with her daughters, Eunice and Emeline, and their families.

He was justice of the peace for the district of North Stonington in 1838/9, and county commissioner for New London County in 1839, 1840, 1841 and 1845.
    He married Wealthy Hewitt Dec. 23, 1813 (No. 283), that family. He died Sept. 22, 1871. She died Sept. 24, 1869.
