SUDDEN DEATH OF FRANKLIN MAN
    Clifford Raymond Pierce, well known Franklin resident, died suddenly of a heart attack this morning. Since he had been up and around and active every day, the death was entirely unexpected and came as a shock to his many friends as well as the family.
    Mr. Pierce was born in North Stonington, May 24, 1899, the son of Charles H. Pierce and Annie Breed. He made his home in Eastern Connecticut all of his life and was a meat cutter by trade. He was a member of the Methodist church at Greene, R.I.
    Surviving is his wife, Rilla Alice Kendall Pierce; a brother, Leon Pierce of Lebanon; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Muttart and Mrs. John Brown, both of Norwich; three daughgters, Phyllis, Janice and Beverly Pierce, and two sons, Clifford, Jr., and Kendall Pierce. Mr. Pierce was endowed with many fine qualities and was highly regarded by all those who enjoyed his friendship. His many friends learn of his untimely death with profound sorrow and extend heartfelt sympanthies to the bereaved family.

    PIERCE - Suddenly, in Franklin, Sept. 22, 1947, Clifford Raymond Pierce of R.F.D. 1, Franklin.
    Services at Church and Allen Funeral chapel Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial in Witter cemetery, Brooklyn. Friends may call at the chapel Wednesday evening from 7 to 9.

FUNERAL - CLIFFORD R. PIERCE
    The funeral of Clifford Raymond Pierce, late of R.F.D. No. 1, Franklin, was held Thursday afternoon Services were conducted at 2 o'clock at the Church and Allen chapel by Rev Charles H. Downs, pastor of the Franklin Congregational church. Organ selections were given by Mrs. Walter M. Cowan.
    Interment was at Witter cemetery, Brooklyn, where Rev. Mr. Downes read the committal service. The bearers were William Parkhurst, John Kendall, Fred Benjamin, John Browning, Walter Wright and Raymond Muttart.
    Mourners attended from Danielson, Hartford, Central Village and Westerly and there were numerous floral tributes.

Clifford married Rilla Alice KENDALL, daughter of John T. KENDALL and Alice M. PARKHURST. Rilla was born 18 Jul 1894 in Brooklyn, Connecticut.

BENJAMIN - PIERCE, Nov 26, 1927
    Fred W. Benjamin and Miss Gladys Pierce were united in marriage Wednesday evening in their newly completed bungalow situated on the main thoroughfare of Preston City between the Baptist and Congregational churches. The groom is the son of Mrs. Walter A. Pierce, of Preston City who owns a repair garage of the village and the bride is the daughter of Charles Pierce of Norwich Town. The wedding was a quiet affair with an attendance of about 20 of near relatives. The bride was dressed in a traveling gown of xxx blue crepe and velvet and the double ring service ceremony was performed by Rev. George Clark, pastor of the Congregational church of Preston City. After refreshments were sxerved the young couple left for a brief wedding trip.

OBITUARY - MRS. FREDERICK W. BENJAMIN
    The death of Mrs. Gladys Lillian Pierce Benjamin, 42, wife of Frenderick W. Benjamin, occurred Friday at her home in Preston following six weeks' illness. Mrs. Benjamin was born in Stonington, May 1, 1903, daughter of Charles H. and Anna Breed Pierce.
    She was a member of the Preston City Congregational church, the Preston City grange and the auxiliary of the Preston fire department.
    Surviving are her husband, four children. Winifred Edna, Carl Alfred, Ruth Irene and Ray Irving Benjamin, all of Preston; two brothers, Leon F. Pierce of Lebanon and Clifford R. Pierce of North Franklin and two sisters, Mrs. John R. Browning and Mrs. Raymond Muttart, both of Norwich.
     Mrs. Benjamin was endowed with a most pleasing disposition and she was highly regarded by all those who enjoyed her friendship. Her many friends learned of her death with profound sorrow and extend their heartfelt sympathies of the surviving relatives.

FRED W. BENJAMIN
    PRESTON - Fred W. Benjamin, 83, husband of Katherine M. Benjamin, of Benjamin Road, Preston, died early Saturday at the William W. Backus Hospital.
    Mr. Benjamin was born in Norwich, July 30, 1899, the son of Everett and Bessie (Brooks) Benjamin.
    He was twice married. His first marriage was to the former Gladys L. Pierce in 1927. She died in 1945. On Sept. 27, 1953, he was married to the former Katherine Massell at Preston City Congregational Church.
    An auto machinist by trade, he was employed by Goldberg's of Norwich and later employed by the Norwich Auto Parts from which he retired.
    He was a charter member of the Preston City Fire Department, a 60-year member and past master of Preston City Grange #110, the Preston City Fair Association and the Preston Senior Citizens.
    Surviving are his wife: a son, Carl Benjamin, of Preston; three daughters, Mrs. Franklin (Winifred) Grabon of Waterford, Mrs. Emmett (Ruth) Ready of Niantic and Mrs. Lester (Eleanor) Shaw of Yantic; six sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Rachael) Chapman of Preston, Mrs. Bertha Morrill of Norwich, Mrs. Laura Wilson of Talcottville, Mrs. Walter (Winifred) Krohn of Preston, Mrs. Stanley (Jennie) Thims of Falmouth Foreside, Me, and Mrs. Hester Stimac of Griswold; three brothers, Jarreid Benjamin of South Portland, Me., Richard and Winthrop Benjamin of Preston; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
