He was a doctor; graduated from Dayton, Ohio, Medical College in the year 1826; was surgeon's mate of 1st Regt. of 2nd Brigade of 1st Division of Ohio State Militia. In 1829 was Associate Judge of Cass County, Indiana. He removed to Illinois in 1835 and was the first postmaster of Rockville. He owned large tracts of land in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties.

His widow resides at 326 W. Bluff St., Marquette, Michigan. They united with the Congregational Church at Fairhaven. After their removal to Marquette, Michigan, in 1859, the united with the Presbyterian Church, of which he was an elder for twenty years before his death. By occupation he was a bloomer and in politics a Democrat. A sketch of her life appeared in the Marquette 'Daily Mining Journal' of May 1, 1905.

Caroline married Elhu Faxon EDDY on 13 Jan 1842. Elhu died 8 Dec 1890 in Marquette, Michigan.
