   Deacon Cyrus Williams Brown, Jr. (253) spent his whole life in his native town, and was a farmer and tradesman, dealer in poultry and wool. The townspeople found in him an honest, trustworthy man from whom to purchase their products. His business also took him beyond the limits of the town, thus he was universally known in adjacent towns. In 1857 and 1860 he was chosen to represent the town in the General Assembly of the State. He was also on the Board of Selectmen of the town; deacon of the Second Baptist Church of his native town, and a zealous Christain worker; a man of strong character, high ideals, and unwavering devotion to duty, generous and charitable. Among the last acts of his public duties were to assist in putting in the bank wall and hanging the gates in front of the Union Cemetery, which is the place of interment of many of the decendants of the three Brown brothers.
