    Deacon Jasper Morgan, m. Catharine Avery (nee) Copp) widow of Jasper Avery of Groton, July 8, 1805, where he resided and commenced business, principaly farming and receiving a good common school and academical education. He taught school during the winter season in Groton and Stonington. While teaching in the seventh school district of Stonington he boarded round, as was the custom of his time, with the families comprising the district, making the residence of Richard Wheeler his welcome home, when children Esther, Nathaniel, Richard, Silas and Hannah attended his school.

Jasper married Catharine COPP 1, 2, 3, daughter of Joseph COPP and Rachel DENISON, on 8 Jul 1805 in Groton, New London Co., Connecticut. Catharine was born 7 Oct 1775 in Groton, New London Co., Connecticut. She died 7 Jul 1822 in Washington, Massachusetts.

    Stephen Avery was town clerk of Stonington from 1791 to 1807, when North Stonington was set off. He was town clerk of North Stonington until his death. He was selectman in 1797; representative in 1799.

He served in the Revolutionary war. He d. April 1, 1828.

    He soon married, as Nov. 18, 1779, his father deeded, out of love to his son, Walter and his wife Hannah, certain lands in Charlemont, Mass. An old account book of Dr. John Long of Sherborne shows an account with him in 1784 and 1785. On the Greenfield, Mass., records is found "Died March 26, 1795, the wife of Walter Avery, on a journey to this place."

Walter married Hannah JOHNSON before 18 Nov 1779 in Charlemont, Massachusetts. Published 15 Oct 1779 at Charlemont, Massachusetts. Hannah died 26 Mar 1895 in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
