Family members, would you like to help us in our research efforts?
Do you have information that needs to be included here?

Here are some simple suggestions on how you can help us in this effort in your spare time.  We would love your help, since the more information we have from reliable sources, the better this will be.

1.  Write a biography about a close family member… see “Write A Biography” for more information.  If you don’t want to write it, but would be willing to help someone else by just providing information, please let us know.

2.  Check the tree at our Rootsweb site to make sure we have all information for you and your family members correct.  Just enter the surname in the search box, and it will list all the persons in the tree with that surname.  Select the “youngest” person listed, and work your way backwards through the tree.  I like the “pedigree view” in “list” format, as it will let you see the most people in the tree at one time.  Please let us know what information is missing that you can share accurately with us.

3.  Spend a little time each week just helping to find information on the web about any individuals at the “end” of a branch in the tree.  If you need an assignment, I’ll be more than happy to give you one!  There are many, many free resources on the web that may have just the information we need, if someone will just spend the time looking.

4.  Send any pictures of ancestors that you have… just good digital scans, no originals.  Please be sure to positively identify all people in the picture, as well as the date and the place it was made, if at all possible. I have good photo editing software, so please don’t edit the photo before you send the image to me.

5.  Talk to your own family members, especially the older ones, that can help us fill in information here.  Ask for very detailed answers, and take good, concise notes that you will be able to read and transcribe later on.  The use of a recording device is also a great idea, especially a digital one.

6.  Look through old family bibles and other old family records for information on ancestors.  Those are good sources for people, birth and death dates, and places where those occurred.  Sometimes young family members are harder to identify from records if they were born and died in between census years, so these types of family records are very important.

7.  Check back here often for updates on what we have found and what we still need assistance in locating.  Check existing pages routinely, as new information may be added to them as we find it.
