I recently read aarticle on the subject of genealogy in Kentucky I was surprised to findas many as 50,000 people in Kentucky may be doing some form of family search.
Adair County is amongthe fast pace to the ancestry chase.
There are many sourcesfor researchers in Adair County Kentucky. Just a short five or six yearsback I remember just a few places would come up in a search engine whensearching for Kentucky Kin in Adair County. However today it is far differentthan then, there are many sites, messages boards, and mail lists. Justrecently there has been a number of new worthwhile genealogy interests.I receive from 25 - 125 e-mails each day, requesting or inquiring aboutthe family members from my family web sites. There are five (5) of Adair County families on this site, some with a rather largefamily reports some dating back to the early 1500.
Yesterday I receiveda photo of my great grandfather James B. Garmon, of the Sparksville area.
I have been searchfor his ancestors for a number of years now, just last month I receiveda message from a second cousin in OK. Which had access my Garmon familyweb page, after contacting her she had a photo of great grandfather JamesB. Garmon, which will be on site by the time this is posted.
Some new and outstandingsources.

On March 12th of this year, I was fortunate enough to "adopt" the AdairCounty web site which is a part of the KYGENWEB. I already had one countyin Kentucky, Henry, and have since added another Kentucky county, Boone. But strangely enough, Adair remains my favorite! Really strange when youconsider I have no family ties to Adair County what so ever! Adair wasabandoned in 1999 and no research material was added until I took over.I just couldn't stand to see such a wonderful site not being taken careof!
Since March, I'veadded several hundred pages of research information, photos, family lines,an African American research section (my "thanks" to Genia Parham-Evans,who gave this section its' start) and many other areas
of interest (mysincere "thanks" to all you wonderful folks who sent me items)! In May,all our hard work paid off and we were honored with a Genealogy Award forthe site and its' contents! And then in August, I was able to talk AngellaWatson into becoming my Assistant Coordinator! Angella is a member of theAdair County Genealogical Society and she is a lookup volunteer and submitterto the Adair County website. All in all, I think we make a great team andwe both look forward to making the Adair County site the very best oneon the Internet!
Unlike Suzanne, Ihave lots of family ties to Adair County (although they are technicallymy husband's family!)
and I live righthere as well. Like Suzanne, I love genealogy and history, so I'malways happy to be of assistance. Thank you, Suzanne, for all thewonderful work you do. I'm glad to be a small part of it. AlthoughSuzanne & I work really hard to keep the site up-to-date, the informationcomes from everyone out there doing research on Adair County families. [Also, everyone who submits a lookup to me helps the site grow, since Ipost all the answers I find!]
Everyone workingtogether has made this website great, so...Keep the submissions coming!!
