Jemima Wilson/Willson is my brickwall. The earliest I found Jemima is on September 5, 1859 in Marshall County Alabama, where she married William J. Bright. When Jemima Wilson married William J. Bright she already had two sons; George W.E.?. and Andrew Levi, my ggrandfather. I have looked for 11 years for a WILSON family to connect Jemima to with absolutely no luck. There are several WILSON families in Marshall Co. Alabama from 1830 forward, however I have never been able to connect to them. Jemima Wilson Bright and William J. Bright are on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 Marshall County Census, first in Warrenton then Guntersville. They are not on any 1900 census, so I assume both died sometime between 1880 and 1900, although I have no idea where they are buried. According to census records Jemima was born some time between 1825 and 1832. Jemima's two sons, George and Andrew grew
up using the surname BRIGHT. They married sisters, George married
Ellen WILES, and Andrew married Sarah Elizabeth WILES, my ggrandmother.
For some reason in the mid 1880's both these men changed their names back
to WILSON. Even after marrying and having half their
children under the BRIGHT name.
