Alwilda M. Witman Alwilda Marian "Billie" Witman, 88, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2005 at San Antonio Hospital in Upland, CA. Alwilda was born June 11, 1917 in San Antonio Hospital, as the only daughter of Clifford L. and Helen Maurer Cochran. A lifelong resident of Ontario, she graduated from Chaffey High School in 1935 and Chaffey Community College in 1937. She worked on the assembly line at the General Electric plant during World War II, and later in the Public Relations Office at Chaffey Community College until retirement. She was a l oving mother, a devoted caregiver, an avid gardener and a great friend to animals, including desert tortoises, many of which she raised from eggs. She was a longtime member of Bethel Congregational Church in Ontario. Alwilda was preceded in death by her husband, U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant-Major George B. Witman Jr., daughter, Linda Jean Witman and long-time friend, Larry H. Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Storey of Las Vegas, NV; her son, George B. Witman III and wife Rita of Grafton, MA ; brothers Harold Cochran, Prescott, AZ, and Clifford L. "Tip" Cochran Jr., Ontario, CA; her grandchildren, George Witman IV and wife Fatima of Ft. Worth, TX and Anthony and Andrew Witman of Grafton, MA. Her mother-in-law, Agnes Witman, sister-in-law Betty Schmitt, Anaheim, CA, and nieces and nephews also survive her. A graveside service will be held at Bellevue Mausoleum at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 3. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chaffey High School Alumni Association, 1245 N.
