a Vietnam Veteran, was born August 30, 1951 in Hanford, CA. He was a resident of Colton, CA. John graduated from Savannah High School in Anaheim, CA, during that time he decided to join the U.S. Army. He did a tour of duty in Vietnam during January, 1969 to November, 1971. John enjoyed the freedoms of life to its fullest extent. He will be remembered as a "Free Spirit" and also had a comforting personality. He left behind 3 sons, and 2 daughters, Danny Olvera of Fontana, Rene Vela squez of San Bernardino, Emilio Velasquez of Colton, Ria Velasquez of Upland, and PFC Jordan Velasquez of Bryn Mawr, CA. John was a volunteer for Silver Spoon at The Jerry L. Pettis Hospital. He left this world on April 26, 2004. May peace go with you John to your journey. You will be remembered by your saying "Red Sky, Blue Dawn." Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 6 from 6-9pm at Preciado Funeral Home, 923 W. Mill St., San Bernardino, CA 92410. Graveside services will be on Friday, May 7, at 9 am a t Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area #1.
