Entered into rest on May 9, 2004, at The Ve terans Hospital in Loma Linda. Jim, also known as Tago was born on July 25, 1919 in Morenci, AZ to Isidro and Carlota Martinez. He spent his early childhood & teens in Morenci then moved to California where he was drafted into the United States Army. He served on active duty from Mar. 14, 1942 to Oct. 28, 1945 with the 4th Armored Division and Participated in the landing at Omaha Beach and The Battle of the Bulge. Upon his discharge he returned to California and found work at Kaiser Steel, from which he ret ired after 32 years. Jim is survived by his daughters; Cordilia Thornbill of Fresno, Jo Anne Sudman of San Bernardino, Patricia dunn of Colton and his son Jim Martinez of san Bernardino. Jim is also survived by his exwife of 36 years Marcie Chavez, his brothers isidro and Samuel, his sister sarah, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his brother Ernesto and his sister Josephine. Eternal Rest Grant him Oh Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him. He will be missed but not forgotten, by his loving family and his many friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2004 from 5 to 9 pm with Rosary @ 6pm both at Preciado Funeral Home with Mass of Resurrection Friday, May 14, 2004 at 11:00 at Immaculate conception Catholic Church in Colton. Interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Staging Area #5 at 1:01pm
