Sheila Mares, beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away at Riverside Community Hospital with her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren at her bedside on December 19, 2005. She was 84 years old. Born in Deming, New Mexico on May 15, 1921, Sheila moved to Riverside, CA where she has resided for more than 80 years. A member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Sheila enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time her family. She leaves behind to cherish her memory four sons, Danny, Thomas (Karen), Timothy, Larry (Nita) and nine grandchildren, Nicky, Tina, Ann, Tim, Erin, Ranae, Allan, Ashley and Kaitlyn. Her brother John Sanchez of Davis, two sisters, Connie Maddox of Citrus Heights and Vera Pedroza of Riverside and seven great-grandchildren also survive her. Her family is comforted to know she has been reunited in heaven with her husband of over 60 years, Daniel who preceded her in death. Vigil Services will be held on Wednesday, December 28 at 7:00 PM at Preston and Simons Mortuary Chapel. A mass will take place at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Thursday, December 29 at 9:00 AM with the burial immediately following at Riverside National Cemetery at 11:15 AM.
