| June 3,1921 Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Micallef whose marriage took place June 1, are fortunate winners of gifts offered by a number of local business houses in the the June
bride and groom contest put on by the Rialto Record, the main condition being that prizes are to be won only by the first June bride or groom of this district. Eighteen local business houses are numbered among the givers of prizes, calculated to meet the call for beauty as as well as utility in the new home.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McManis ,little son, and Mrs. McManis' mother, Mr. M. T. Douthwaite motored to Los Angeles. mrs. Douthwaite remaing for a more extended visit with relatives.
Theh Charles Kingmans were up from Los Angles the first of the week and going on to Strawberry Flat, joined the J. W. Wellers at their cabin.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Utz of Etiwanda Avenue have as ouse guest the latter's nephew, Lester Munson of Boone, IA.,who arrived from the east this morning.
RIALTO- Aug. 30.- Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Crowder delightfully entertained guests for an all-day visit at their hospitable home. Astes of dainty lavender formed a lovely centerpiece
at the table where a dinner of charming appointments and a most complete menu was served at the noon hour. The afternoon was one of informal sociabilty. Plates were set for Rev. Dan Trundle, former pastor of the Rialto Christian Church, and Mrs. Trundle of Los Angeles,
Misses Claudia and Charlien Crowder, the host and hostess.
Last evening as a farewell courtesy to Miss Mary Barbour and Richmond Barbour, leaving for San Diego, a gay company of their young friends hold a jolly wienie roast on Cactus Ave. out by the Weller grain field. Games in pleasing variety were a fixture of the affair and around the camp fire wienies and
marshmallows were enjoyed, accompanied by other appetizing dishes. Having a share in this last good time together before opening of school were Misses Mary Barbour,Florence and Mary Pendleton,Robert and Richmond Barbour,
Royce Crediford,Burleigh Brimmer,Lee Henry,Tenix Williams and Rev. Charles Sanders.
Kenneth MacRae Sr., came up from Los Angeles this morning. Mrs. Jennie Fadden of San Bernardino, formerly of this place, was looking up old Rialto friends today.
Mrs. R. J. Hardy of Ontario and little son Robert are visiting Miss Norma Allen for a few days. The friendship had it's beginning at the old home in the state of Washington. Mrs. and Mrs. Alex Easton of Perris, Mrs. W. A. Walker of the Gate City and Sam Easton started out from the Mrs. Sarah Robertson home at the corner of South
Palm and East First Streets at about noon today for an automobile tour through a portion of Northern California. The party will go as far north as Visalia, stopping at points of interest and making a number of delightful side trips. Little Clifford Cook of Torrence is spending the week at the Orville Martin home on East Foothill Boulevard.
