"Robert Moseley who m. (among others) Penelope Talley ultimately settled and died in Edgefield Co - quite a bit south of Noble Creek and Rocky River. And he is on record in that area (Edgefield Co) in 1786. As far as we can tell, he never lived on Nobles Creek.
This Robert is said to have been born in Buckingham Co. VA (second hand info - can't remember source). We note that the land on Nobles creek was surveyed by a Wm Goode who was the father of Mackerness Goode who m. Mary Moseley (Charlotte Co. VA). She is d/o Edward and Amey (Green) Moseley. Might this be a clue to Robt's origins?
At least we know that any of these Moseleys in the Carolinas had Virginia roots.
Benjamin and Chancey as maybe kids 2 feb 99 email from a CA worker, she cites:
One was the edgefield deed bk (Deed Bk 1 1786 to 12 1796) and the other was something called Edgefield Co SC Records by Janie Revill, 1984 which is 250 pages of information culled from all over including will abstracts.

EARLY POSSIBLE RECORD:
some R. Moseley ca. 1760 in Farmville Pr. Edward co. VA: St Johns vestry book.
It seems that Wm Sessums of Bute Co N C who m. Robert of Bute's sister Elizabeth also received a headright grant in the Horn Crk area of Edgefield in the early 70's. He mortgaged this land in 1773 to Robert Mosley, who had to be his brother in law.
K5 170-71 South Carolina, Granville Co. William Sessions of Granville Co., SC bound to Robert Mosley of same county, in the penal sum of 500 pounds SC money, 5 Nov 1773, mortgage of 300 acres on waters of Horns Creek, a branch of Big Stephens Creek adj. Jacom Sumeralls, Joseph Dolittles,. Wiliam Sessions (LS) Wit: Xmas Ray, Roderick Edsea Recorded 18 May 1784. (Note the late date of the recording);
Granville Co.NC or Bute Co NC: Robert Moseley, purchased land as stated in Deed Book, F, page 184-185 Feb 14, 1763 Thomas Smith to Robert Moseley for 16 pds 5 shls., 100 acres on both sides of Buffalo Creek on Tar River, Which was granted to Francis Mabry may 11, 1757 and conveyed to William Moseley June 5, 1758 and he to Thomas Smith Nov. 11 1760.
