"He was an orphan, living with an uncle at Harper's Ferry, Virginia. When he was 14, he joined a wagon train and went to Louisiana. Arrived in Newton County, Texas about 1829. Moved to Liberty County 1830 (From Jeanette Moser and Williams family book.).
Marriage info from Southwest Louisiana records, book 8.
Buried at Gus Buck Place, a mile north of the Liberty/Chambers county line, near Barber's Hill (now called Mont Belvieu) east of Houston. Gravestone located at Barber's Hill Cemetery. A monument was dedicated to him in 1976 to commerate his service in the War if 1812, The monument was placed next to the grave of his oldest son Amos Barber in the Williams Cemetery in Barbers Hill."
