Aka: John Midcap. "Also of importance: A John Midcap, possible brother to Asa Metcalf and who had lived in Fauquier Co., VA per military records, lived in Jennings Co., IN. John Midcap m. Elizabeth Remey in Nelson Co., KY and then moved to IN.
His son, Daniel R. Metcalf/Medcap (m. Matilda), moved to
Randolph Co., MO by 1880 and it is assumed to live near family,
our family. This would explain why some of his family in
Jennings Co., IN and nearby counties and our Metcalfs have
similar given names, i.e. Harrison Metcalf."
Capt. John Metcalfe who remained in Virginia when the balance of
the family moved to Kentucky in 1784
