Abraham Sandifer contributed supplies to the Patriots during the revoloutionary war. This opened the door for his female descendants to join the D.A.R.; application # 537,141,459. Name was spelled Sandiford.
Abraham owned as many as 24 slaves and would have been considered quite wealthy.
Was probably born in Elizabeth City or Warwick Counties. He was pretty clearly the first Sandefur in the central Virginia area."

Dozier was a Rev War Vet and served under Gen. Geo Matthews. From 1785 to 1825 he was founder and pastor of Van's Creek Baptist Church, and then Dove's Creek baptist church. He died in Franklin Co. GA and is bured 3 miles from Lavonia (Roadside). Van's Creek Baptist Church established near Ruckersville, Elbert Co. GA, in 1785? Names on the historical marker as charter members include Rev. Dozier Thornton, William Arnold [first deacon and clerk] and Susan, Thomas Gilbert, and John and Milly White, Nathan and Elizabeth Morgan.
