Pages 175-176. Will of George McConnell Senr of Williamsburgh district, being aged and at this time diseased and low in flesh. If it be found that I have a legal right to the lands that I claim on the south side of Black River (400 acres of which land was surveyed for William Meek, and 200 acres surveyed for John Lowry), my Executors are to sell said lands. To my Grand Daughter Jane M. Hewit, all my Estate Real and personal forever, but if my grand Daughter should contrary to inclination either marry Elam Cheeseboro Burdick, or Eliphalet Hubbard Burdick, or Frederick Allin Burdick, in that case my granddaughter shall not inherit any of my property, but my Estate is then to be sold and divided as hereafter directed. Should my above named Grand Daughter die not leaving issue, all my personal estate shall return to my sister Rachel McConnell, if she be alive at that time. Should my Grand Daughter die without issue, my Negro woman named Hetta and her increase should be the property of my Nephew George McConnell, son of James McConnell. After the death of my sister Rachel McConnell, all my estate she did possess shall be equally divided between my three brothers children, viz, James, Thomas, and Robert, designing Elenor Gotea to draw her Mother's part. My sister Rachel above named shall live on my plantation if she choose My two Negroes named Jack and Flora shall be permitted to live on my plantation and be plantifully fed and comfortably clothed during their lives at the expense of my Estate. Mrs. Annie Cross
Mrs. Annie Cross died at a local hospital at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. She is surved by two sons, Ernest and Arthur Westall of Houston. The funeral will be held at the chapel of the C. J. Wright company at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Father Daly will officiate. Buried will be in Holy Cross cemetery.
(Note: Ms. Cross was Ann Elizabeth Tinsley, dau of Isaac T. and Mary Ann Tinsley .)
