"Agrippa d'Aubigne was leader of Huguenots in France under King Henry of Navarre. Agrippa was at court of Louis XII, commanded a company of Swiss guards. Agrippa had 2 sons, Constant d'Aubigne, m 1) Ann Marchant, one son Theaodore, m 2) Jeanne CARDILLAE, Constant d'Aubigne & Ann Marchant has Theodore d'Aubigni; left France & went to Wales (The English King was trying to settle North Ireland with Protestants, so would send many immigrants to Ireland, then they would come to America saying they were from Ireland--though they weren't really Irish at all) after the 1685 revocation of the Edict of
Nantes. The St Bartholomew Massacre of Huguenots in 1572 (from 2,000, to 100,000 killed). Then the Edict of Nantes signed 1598 by Henry IV granting tolerance to Protestants, when the Edict of Nantes, was revoked in 1685 the following Inquisition killed thousands & sent thousands fleeing out of France for their lives. Two bros. Cornelius & John left Wales betw 1715 & 1717 for Virginia/America another bro., Robert, settled in Boston (Cornelius deBany or deBones or deBoney grant in New Kent 1664 which makes the 1715 date look wrong)
Robert JENNINGS was s/o Sir Humphrey JENNINS of Middlesex Co, Eng. had 2 sons: William JENNINGS of Acton Place, London, died a bachelor, Charles JENNINGS had one ch: Sarah 2nd wife 1721 of Cornelius DABNEY Hanover Co, VA Cornelius DABNEY d 1764/65, had 9 ch: her 2nd son John DABNEY had dau. Susan who m Thomas HARRIS

Most researchers dispute the Huguenot ancestry of these DABNEY's and think they were in England much earlier, then to America."

DABNEY, D'AUBIGNE, Cornelius, Theodore, John.

Dabney Family. I. Theodore d'Aubigné, from whom are descended the d'Aubigné family. The name of d'Aubigné can be found among the rolls of Battle Abbey, amidst the list of knights who fell at Hastings. Some survived the conquest and are mentioned in Hume's History as champions of Magna Charta. A branch of the d'Aubigné family left France, after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, 1685, because they were no longer allowed to worship God with freedom of conscience. They first went to Wales. Two brothers, Cornelius and John d'Aubigné, left Wales between 1715 and 1717 and sailed for America. Another brother, Robert, came over about the same time and settled in Boston. Cornelius and John came to Virginia.
