Will of Benjamin Hill of Darlington probated Dec 1795 witnessed by Joseph Chandler, Jr and John Chandler.


1790 Cenus of Cheraw, SC: Lists James Chandler - head of household - male 1 and 2 females. Lists Joseph Chandler with 3 males including head of family; 2 males under 16 and 3 females, including head of family.


1800 Census of Cheraw, SC: Lists James Chandler with 3 males under 10; 1m to 16, 1m to 45; females 2 to 10, 1f to 16; 1f to 26; 1f to 45 and 1f plus 45.


James Chandler, Sr Migrated to MS Territory. James Chandler will in MS 1830 names as step-children Jane and Samuel B. Simmons. James Chandler, son of Joseph Chandler, SC m. Widow Simmons thought to have been a Stanley. Samuel Simmins, private - 1782 listed on page 411 of History of Old Cheraw by Alex Gregg. 1790 SC Census lists Vincent Simmons and 1800 SC Census lists Fredrick Simmons.


H.F. Rudisill 1961: The Chandlers and Simmons apparently lived on Lynches river near the present Effingham (now Florence Co) and many Chandlers crossed the river into Sumter dist.
