"John Fearn born 1665 in England, settled in Gloucester County, and married Mary Lee in 1687. Family tradition states that the family had a coat of arms blazoned:
per bend Or and Gules, two lins' heads erased Counterchanged;
Crest: A talbot's head Argent, collared Gules, garnished and ringed Or,
issuing out of a fern proper.
John and Mary (Lee) Fearn were the parents of: John, born c. 1692. His marriage to Mary Lee is recorded in the parish register of Christ Church, Middlesex County.
"John ffearne of Gloster & Mary Lee of this pish Married ye po. November 1687."
Another claims that he was born in Virginia: from Daughters of
Founders and Patriots of America, member #5453. Her references
include "Records of Colonial Gloucester" Polly Cary Mason;
"Lewis and Kindred Families" McAllister and Tandy; "Christ
Church Register, Middlesex Co"; "Records of the Society of the
Lees of Virginia"; "Alabama History and Dictionary of Biography"
Thomas Owen; records Isle of Wight, Middlesex counties;
Gloucester county Patent Box. She also gives a wedding date of
NOV 1687.
John Fearn served with the Virginia Militia, first as a Second
Lieutenant and later as a Captain.

IV--Burgesses and Other Prominent Persons: Name: Gabriel Throckmorton immigrant, born 1655, died in Ware parish, Gloucester county, January, 1737; was son of John Throckmorton, of Ellington, in the county of Huntingdon, Great Britain, a highly respectable family of ancient lineage. He was for many years presiding magistrate of Gloucester county. He married, in 1690, Frances Cooke, daughter of Mordecai Cooke, and left descendants in Virginia.
