History: Heinrich Von Questenberg of Cologne, Germany, son of Berthold VON QUESTENBERG b: ABT. 1421 in Bodenfeld, Brunswick, Germany and Margarette ? b: BET. 1401 - 1428, was founder of the English Branch and in 1467 he m. an English girl, Catherine of Canterbury, he was disinherited and expelled from the Hanseatic League.


The English Branch became extinct in 1701; The Cologne Branch became extinct in 1794; A Branch in Austria became extinct on the death of Count Johann Anthon von Questenberg died abt 1794; A younger Austrian Branch that settled in Selisia became extinct somewhat later. The American branch alone survives.

Eleanor Bayne made her will November 21, 1700 and named her son, John, Executor "if he doth return from England, but if not, then grandson Walter, is appointed executor'". She left the bulk of her estate to grandsons, Walter and Ebsworth Bayne, daughter Ann Bayne (daughter-in-law, John's wife) and to granddaughters Eleanor Hubbard, Elizabeth Dutton, Elizabeth Stone, Eleanor Stone and my daughter, Eleanor Beale.


The following are to receive mourning rings and suits of mourning: Eleanor Beale, Ann Bayne and their children, my sister in England, son John, Madam Charity Courts and Colonel John Courts. It is my further will ad pleasure that my grandson, Walter Bayne, does neither contract, buy or sell before he becomes to the age of 21, without the advice of Colonel John Courts".

The will of Ellinor Bayne of Charles County, dated 05 November 1701 and proved on 11 November of the same year included bequests of personal property to Walter and Ebsworth Bayne, Ellinor Hubbard, Elizabeth Stone, Ellinor Stone, Elizabeth Dutton and each of her children, Mrs. Charity Courts, daughter Ellinor Beale, daughter Ann Bayne and an unnamed sister in England. Son John Bayne was named as executor but if he did not return from England, then grandson Walter Bayne should serve as executor after he became 21 and with the advice of his father or Colonel John Courts (Liber 11, folio 298).
