6 Jun 1793- Dinwiddie Co.,Va. [NOTE: copied July, 1867] - Will
ot Thomas Bonner:
"In the Name of God Amen, I Thomas Bonner of the Co. of
Dinwiddie & Parish of
Bristol, being sick of body, but of sound mind & memory - thanks
be to Almighty God for the Same-but calling to mind the
uncertainty of this transitory life. I do make & ordain this to
be my last Will & Testament, hereby revoking all other wills by
me made. hoping for Pardon & remission of all my Sins through
the merits of my blessed Saviour & redeemer, Jesus Christ & as
to my Wordly Estate I dispose of the same in manner & form
following:
Item: I give & bequeath to my SON CHAPPLE BONNER, my plantation
whereon I now live with 600 acres of land thereunto belonging to
him & his heirs forever.
Item: I lend unto my beloved WIFE JANE BONNER the half of my
Personal
Estate except the hogs & all them & my Riding Chair & at her
death I desire it to be equaly divided between my 3 children.
ELIZA. BONNER, REBEKAH BONNER & JANE BONNER & likewise I lend
unto my wife 4 NEGROES named, Ned, Peter, Harry & Sarah four
year after this date & then to be FREE from all persons during
their lives.
Item: I give & bequeath to my daughter ELIZA. BONNER one negro
named Will.
One feather bed & furniture one chest. one Saddle & bridle 40
pounds certificates according to Congress to her & her heirs
forever.
Item: I give & bequeath to my daughter REBEKAH BONNER one negro
named Ephriam one bed & furniture one chest & 40 pounds
certificates according to
Congress, to her & her heirs forever.
Item: I give & bequeath to my daughter JAIN BONNER 2 negros
named Joe & Rose. One feather bed & furniture one chest to her
& her heirs forever.
Item: I give & bequeath the other half of my personal estate to
my 4 children, FREDERICK BONNER, CHAPELL BONNER, SUSANNA LEE &
JOAN BONNER to them & their hiers forever.
Lastly, I do constitute & appoint my two sons, FREDERICK &
CHAPPELL
BONNER my Exors. of this my last will & testament revoking all
other wills by me made. In witness thereof I have thereunto set
my hand & affixed my seal
this 6th day of June 1793.
