born or Lands End, Cornwall, England.

"Shadrack's will was probated in Henry County on July 22, 1784, and mentions that he was "brother to Meshack." (Henry County Will Book, page 90.) Shadrack was appointed commissioner of roads for Halifax County (later Henry County), and bought land in what is now Franklin County (carved out of part of Henry County) and had a large plantation. The plantation was kept in my line and my grandmother (several generations down) grew up on the plantation -- my mother and I still occasionally visit her cousins who still live in Henry, Virginia, where the location was located. My grandmother's sister ran a country store there. Another of my mother's sisters told stories of riding in a covered wagon in the early 1900s from what is now Fieldale, Virginia (Henry Co.) to visit her grandmother on the plantation (in what is now Franklin County)."
