CHARLES COUNTY GENTRY, Harry Wright Newman, Clearfield Company, Inc. 1997, page 301: A case before the Chancery Court of Maryland, filed on July 24, 1798 by Zereal Penn and Burford Cotterel, showed that in 1764, John Warren and William Penn, both of Charles County, since deceased became the surieties for Robert Yates, the administrator of Jonathan Yates, to the value of 1,200 pounds.
