ID Number: I16804

  • DEATH: 19 Jan 1916, Cordele, Crisp Co. Georgia

Family 1 : Eola Eliz. HAMILTON
Family 2 : Leolene BARFIELD

Notes

"My GGGrandfather was Jeremiah Coney who m. Sarah(Sally) Higdon in 1812...their son, Charles Culpepper Coney was father of my Gfather, Samuel Whitsett Coney. Unfortunately, I do not have much info on them except for names of children (copies of their Bible pages)..they did move to Pulaski Co., Ga (Hawkinsville, ) in 1829 and both lived and died there between 1845 and 1855?)."

"Gum Creek, now part of the Georgia Veterans Park was a part of Dooly County, (Vienna was county seat) until new Crisp County was created by Ga. Legislature in 1905. Crisp county, Ga. was named for Congressman Charles F.Crisp who served as a Lt. in the Confederate army in Virginia; later he was elected to congress from Americus, GA Old 3rd, I believe) becoming speaker of the U.S. HOUSE in 1891; After his death, his son Charles R.Crisp served as the Congressman from that district. Greatgrandchildren live in Americus, Ga.(Charles R. and Henry Crisp)

Crisp County was southern part of Dooly; Cordele was founded in 1888 I believe. Gov. Joe Brown, Civil War gov of Ga.owned a 'plantation' at what is now Cordele...something I read in last few days said that Gov. Brown & staff left Atlanta when Sherman came, and briefly operated the state goverment at his plantation."

Notes

CORO: 1428 Reims, France in the presence of Joan of Arc. Alias: The Lawful King.

"Charles VII (1422- 1461) One keeps of Charles VII the image of the shy person " small king de Bourges " that a young shepherdess in armour left her torpor, March 8, 1429. This day, although it was disguised, the Virgin recognized it and the convainquit of going to be made crown in Rheims, in order to legitimate her capacity. France was then for a great part with the hands of theBurgundian ones, but four months after the history interview of Chinon , Charles VII was crowned.
It was the first of the kings to be remained durably in the Loire Valley. And more still on the edges of Vienna, Chinon having then found a role of capital, favorable to the construction of many noble houses. Fleeing Paris, dominated by the hostile forces with monarchy capétienne, the " nice dolphin ", born in 1403, had initially taken refuge in Bourges. But the safety discounted in its duchy of Berry not being total, the future sovereign had settled more in the west, in Touraine that the Burgundian ones did not threaten. Also, since 1425, the monarch it had decided to be established in Loches , Chinon and Amboise . Duke of Touraine, Charles VII smelled himself there at his place, this province having been faithful to him since 1412.
The king also resided of time at other in his " good city " of Turns , so much with the castle, where the royal family placed, which with the manor of Montils, which the beautiful Agnes preferred, first official mistress. Which could give again with the king confidence in itself. The independence of the kingdom saved, the stages of the end of the One hundred Year old war will pass initially by the treaty of Arras, in 1435, which put an end to alliance between England and the duke of Burgundy. In 1444, it was in Tours that the monarch negotiated trêve in the interminable Franco-English conflict. The royal city had entered the great history, but it would have to await Louis Xl so that she becomes one of the principal cities of the kingdom. With died of the sovereign, in 1461, one of the first gestures of his/her son was to make gift with his/her mother, Marie of Anjou, the castle of Chinon . Where one of the capital pages of the French history had been played."
