COL. JOHN PICKETT, (5--2), of "Rose Hill," Mason Co.,Ky., eldest son of Capt. William Sanford and Martha (Metcalfe) Pickett, of Fauquier Co., Va., b. 12-4-1768; d. 1-6-1831. In 1796, he removed from Fauquier Co., Va., to Mason Co., Ky., and built the ancestral home of "Rose Hill;" did military service in Kentucky, and drilled the first Reg. of Troops ever organized in Mason Co. He m. Nov. 21, 1790, Elizabeth Chamberlain in Loudoun Co., Va.
