"General, War Department: The records show that one Richard Cross served in the Revolutionary War as corporal in Capt. Jones' company, 14th Virginia Regiment, also known as 10th Virginia Regiment and as the 10th and 1st Virginia Regiment (consolidated) commanded at different times by Colonels Charles Lewis and William Green. He enlisted, Sep. 6, 1777, for three years, and his name is last found on a roll for November, 1779. These troops of the Virginia Continental Line were at Battles of Brandywine and Monmouth. Military Land Grant 5000 acres.


Died on his plantation bordering Nashville in Tennessee. Will dated 21 SEP 1802 and probated 28 NOV 1802, recorded Davidson County, Tennessee.

Obituary: Lynchburgh Virginia Newspaper--Monday, February 4, 1839: On Friday, Feb. 1, at the Washington Hotel in Lynchburgh, William G. Pendleton, in his 52d year. A lawyer, he had served as Clerk of the Chancery Court in Richmond, Register of the Land Office, and other positions. (p. 3, c. 1) s/o Reuben Pendleton and Frances Maria Anna Garland.
